Welcome to Craig Dunlop Counselling, where personalised, compassionate care is at the heart of what I do
It's so important to me that you get what you need from your counselling and that we work together to find the best way to achieve that
I have training and experience using a range of different counselling modes and techniques that research shows can help,
I provide a safe and supportive environment where you will be listened to without judgement and in total confidence.
I trained as a counsellor because I am fascinated by people and I love the process of learning. For example, learning about psychology, emotions and how our brains work in determining our thoughts and feelings as human beings, but also, I love to meet and learn about individual people and how these things impact each of us in our everyday lives.
Everyone has a story to tell and it is a real privilege to be able to hear those stories in my work and share in the learning and insight that comes from them, which can be instrumental in the process of change. Most people seek counselling because they want to make some kind of change in their life, but making change or sticking to changes can be difficult, even when it's something we really want.
Sometimes, maybe even most of the time, we don’t know what is stopping us from making the changes that we want to make, a counsellor can help to bring those barriers out in the open which can be an important step in overcoming them. I will support you through that process and through caring, acceptance and insight, help you to move forward, through whatever has been holding you back.
As well as being a counsellor I work in mental health research and education at Abertay University so I am always updating my knowledge on the theory side of counselling through the most recent research findings.
Online and telephone appointments currently available, including evening and weekend. Get in touch to arrange a free initial chat about your requirements and goals for counselling.
I am a fully qualified counsellor and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy to provide you with reassurance that I use only research informed counselling methods and operate ethically at all times.
